Blau Student Residence

In this project, light goes beyond its practical function: it becomes an expressive, scenic, and emotional resource that defines the character of the space.

We work at Blau, one of the leading university residences in Barcelona, designed to promote healthy, sustainable, and visually stimulating environments for new generations. In this context, the lighting project played a crucial role: it was not just about illuminating spaces, but about creating environments that encouraged concentration, rest, social interaction, and overall well-being.

LED lighting for educational spaces

The lighting design at Blau was conceived with several clear objectives:

• Create differentiated environments according to the use of the space: common areas, study rooms, relaxation areas, and terraces.​
• Reinforce the visual identity of the Blau brand, with modern lighting, geometric shapes, and an elegant design.
• Encourage interaction and a sense of community through warm and enveloping light in socialization spaces.
• Integrate energy efficiency and sustainability by investing in low-consumption LED technology.
• Make the most of natural light, especially in areas with large windows, to reduce electricity consumption and create a sense of openness.

Lighting comfort in university residences

Following its contemporary aesthetic, we developed a custom decorative lighting proposal for the common areas. In the game room, we designed and installed three geometric light fixtures—circular, square, and triangular—that evoke the buttons of a video game controller. This lighting intervention adds personality, dynamism, and a clear visual identity to the space, directly connecting with the lifestyle of its residents.

The Blau Student Residence has demonstrated that well-thought-out lighting is key to the success of any shared space. It not only enhances the daily experience of the residents but also projects a coherent, modern, and attractive brand image.

Every shape, every light, every detail was designed to create an experience: not just to see, but to feel the space.
