Liceo Francés Rugby Field
The Ramón Urtubi Stadium, home of the Rugby Club of the French School, has undergone a comprehensive renovation of its lighting system with LED technology. This club, with a long history and recognized for its contribution to the development of national rugby, required an upgrade that met the current needs of its training sessions and night competitions.
A project to optimize visibility, efficiency, and visual comfort
LUXES took on the challenge of modernizing the stadium lighting by replacing the old metal halide system with a sustainable and high-performance LED solution. The main objective was to improve the light quality to reduce visual fatigue for the players, optimize energy consumption, and increase uniformity and safety on the field.
After a thorough lighting analysis, it was determined that the existing fixtures did not meet the required lighting levels for a professional sports facility. In response, 12 PROTON AP 900W floodlights were installed, specially designed for demanding environments and large areas.
Results of the new system
The technological change allowed for a significant improvement in all key parameters:
- Uniformity and luminous power: levels increased from 25–35 lux to 135 lux measured on the central axis of the field, ensuring optimal visibility in all playing areas.
- Energy efficiency: the total installed power was reduced from 24,000W to 10,800W, which represents more than 55% energy savings.
- Economic savings: the quarterly energy cost decreased from €4,680 to €2,106, with an estimated 80% reduction in maintenance, thanks to an extended lifespan from 8,000 to 50,000 hours.
- Visual comfort and safety: the new lighting minimizes glare and visual fatigue, enhancing performance and reducing the risk of injuries due to low visibility.
High-performance LED technology
The PROTON AP projectors are characterized by their high durability, resistance to demanding environmental conditions, and superior luminous efficiency. Made from high-quality aluminum and with an IP65 protection rating, they ensure reliable operation even in high-use outdoor environments.
A stadium prepared for the future
Thanks to the intervention of LUXES, the Ramón Urtubi Stadium now features modern, sustainable, and high-performance lighting, in line with the technical and visual standards of professional sports. A light that not only improves visibility but also reinforces the club's commitment to energy efficiency and the well-being of its players.
