Roman Circus Tarragona

At Luxes, we take pride in having been part of a project that goes beyond architecture: the restoration and lighting of the Pretorio of Tarragona, one of the great living testimonies of ancient Roman Tarraco, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

In close collaboration with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, we developed a comprehensive lighting system designed to respect, preserve, and enhance this monumental space. The light, carefully studied, becomes a tool for interpretation and preservation here: it reveals history without altering its essence and protects the legacy that has survived for more than two thousand years.

Our lighting design not only highlights the architectural beauty of the ensemble but also acts as a preventive conservation element. The system regulates humidity and temperature levels, helping to prevent the growth of fungi and bacteria, which are key factors in the preservation of original materials. All of this has been executed with meticulous attention to detail, without interfering with the structure or the atmosphere of the space.

The result is a subtle and precise intervention, where technology is put at the service of heritage and light becomes a vehicle of emotion, knowledge, and respect.
